I had tried Internet dating unsuccessfully for 6 months. In that time I must have dated over 10 people that I'd met online. By email they seemed really nice but it's easy to be someone else hiding behind a keyboard and there's no real chemistry. So it's no surprise that in most cases meeting the real person was never quite as expected, yet I still felt obliged to carry on with the evening.

I found out about speed dating in Time Out and went along to an event in Battersea. I found the event weird at first, but fun nonetheless. There was no rejection just lots of dates giving me much better odds of meeting someone I like and all in one night. Whilst 3 minutes isn't a lot of time, it was easily enough to make a decision about whether I wanted to see that person again. Sam was the only girl I really wanted to see again and I told her so after the event. We matched and have been going out for 10 weeks now.

Speed dating is in my opinion the BEST way to meet people in a fun environment. I would urge anyone single to find an event, throw caution to the wind and go along!
